History

Val Strang started a boot camp in 1995 with the help of a friend, also a trainer and group fitness instructor. The first boot camp originated in Jefferson Barracks Park in South County with five participants as a women-only camp. Catering to women, the camp soon grew to 20 participants. A pioneer in boot camp style classes, Val’s camp was one of the first in the area.

Val eventually took the boot camps over on her own and expanded into Watson Trails Park, St. Catherine’s Parish, as well as Jefferson Barracks Park. The classes quickly became very popular, but Val strictly limited the amount of participants in each class. Strang explains, “No trainer can properly watch more than 20 people in a class, correct their form and keep them all motivated.” She adds, “Our dedication is to the success of our clients, you will never feel like you are ‘just-a-number’ at our camps.”

With the expansion into Queeny Park, and St. Louis Workout Clubs, Val disbanded the idea of a women’s-only camp, and made all camps co-ed allowing men to take advantage of the program. (However, there are the occasional camps that maintain the women-only status.)

As a client suggestion, the boot camps operated under the name Kick Ass Boot Camps for three years, highlighting the camp’s no-fluff results-driven philosophy. But in a response to the growing popularity of the camps, Val sought to create a new corporate identity that accurately reflected both the dramatic results, the diversity of her clients, and accommodated the community-based boot camp locations.

Now known as, Burn Boot Camps, the client demand has made it necessary to hire additional instructors to keep up with all of the camp requests.

So guys, welcome aboard….girls you too….together we can get a serious burn going!  Drop and give me twenty!
